Choose nearly any scene from these chapters and relate it to a similar problem you see in our society today. Explain what you think Huxley would feel is wrong with how we act or what we do in today's society as reflected in this scene from the novel that you have chosen.
Along a similar line of thinking, there are a lot of allusions and symbols operating in this chapter. Can you pick out a few and explain them to us?
As always, you may ask/answer any questions you might have over our reading for today.

Chapters 10-12
With John's arrival in the Brave New World, we see the shortcomings of this society even more clearly as he becomes the moral "yardstick" by which we measure both these people and the world they have created.
Give several examples of what John finds especially upsetting and explain why he reacts the way he does.

Chapters 7-9
We now get a good look at the Savage Reservation, which is continually juxtaposed with the society of the Brave New World.
It is quite obvious how these two societies are different. A more interesting question would be about the SIMILARITIES Huxley is trying to show us between these two worlds, neither of which John is fully a member.
If you don't like that question, then work on this one. How is John different from the people in the Savage Reservation AND how is he going to be different from the people in the Brave New World when he goes there to visit?

Chapters 4-6
These chapters involve Bernard Marx quite a lot. He is really quite different from the other characters we meet in this society. Give at least two examples from these chapters showing he is different and explain a bit what you think Huxley is saying about this Brave New World through his character.
If you chose not to do the above, would you please ask a question or two you have over today's reading, or/AND try to answer questions your classmates pose over these chapters. Remember, you can certainly post more than one time!

Chapters 1-3
These chapters show us that in this society human beings are degraded and reduced to an animal-like state. Individuality is not considered important or even allowed to flourish, and humans have lost all dignity and respect.
Please list at least 2 examples from these chapters that support these ideas.
Secondly, would you please ask at least one question you have as you read these chapters. (Even more would be appreciated if you have more!)
Finally, would you attempt to answer at least one of your classmates' questions, and answer even more if you are able to do so.
